Can you hang curtains over blinds?

Now here at DotcomBlinds we may be a bit biased when we say that we love our stylish made to measure blinds and our elegant made to measure curtains, while either of them would make a perfect addition to your home, what if you can’t choose which you prefer, can you double up and hang up blinds and curtains in the same window?

Here at DotcomBlinds, we say yes! Whilst it may seem a bit overkill to have curtains and a set of blinds hanging up, there are a few good reasons why you may want to pair the two window dressings together when decorating your home.

So to talk you over to our side, here are a few reasons why we think blinds and curtains go together like cheese and crackers.

Get Full Blackout

The first reason we think blinds and curtains are a great pairing is the ability to have full black out coverage at home, as even with blackout blinds, some light may still end up leaking in through the sides of a window and with a blackout curtain, there may be some light leakage at the bottom of the curtain or down the middle if not pulled together.

So, by pairing up a set of our blackout blinds and our blackout lined curtains, you can achieve full blackout in any room of your home. This will allow you to get a fully dark room which is great for getting to sleep, watching a film or even just sitting in the dark if that’s your thing.

Get The Full Set

Our made to measure curtains are actually made of the same fabric as our made to measure roman blinds, cushions covers and curtain tie backs. This means that you can get a full matching set of blinds, curtains, tie backs and cushions for your home. This combination is excellent for living rooms, allowing you to match up all these design elements around the room.

Even just pairing up a curtain with one of our roman blinds in the same fabric is an excellent pairing and they will look rather stylish together. Or, if you’re not a fan of colour matching, you can mix it up and get your blind and curtain made in complementary colours to look amazing and add some vibrant colour to a room.

Insulate Your Windows

We’ve already spoken at length about how our blinds can help insulate your windows to keep your home warm. And while just a nice thick blind like a blackout roller blind or roman blind can help keep the cold away from your windows during the winter, a thick blind paired with a curtain will do even better to help keep the heat in your home.

With better insulated windows, you won’t need to have your heating on as much, which will end up saving you a fair bit of money on your heating bill, so our combo of blinds and curtains can pay themselves off in savings.

Because You Want To

Whilst there are many valid reasons for you to pair curtains and blinds together, the most important reason for doubling up on window dressings should be because you want to. Interior décor is a very personal thing, after all you will spend a lot of time in the rooms you decorate, so the best reason to do anything when it comes to your home’s decoration is because you like it! Ignore what your Mother and your over-friendly neighbours say, every part of your home design should be there because you like it!
