Sweet, sweet silence, the sound of a baby falling asleep in a dark room, peace descending on the home.<\/p>\n<p>A sleeping baby is a precious moment you don\u2019t want to disturb, and a window blind is a great way to keep out any beams of sunlight that could awaken them.<\/p>\n<p>The three things parents tell us they look for in a window blind for a nursery or areas children spend time in are:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: x-large;\"><a class=\"c-turquoise\">Style &#8211;\u00a0<\/a><a class=\"c-turquoise\">Safety &#8211;\u00a0<\/a><a class=\"c-turquoise\">Silence<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Stylish Nursery Blinds<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"float: right;\" title=\"Stylish kids nursery\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dotcomblinds.com\/pub\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/StylishNursery1.png\" alt=\"Stylish kids nursery\" width=\"400\" height=\"282\" \/>The blind has to look good in the room. Granted, the kid won\u2019t appreciate your efforts for another twenty years and won\u2019t fathom the concept of complimentary and contrasting colours, but hey, you live in the house too, you know!<\/p>\n<p>Look for a blind that suits the room but doesn\u2019t draw too much attention to itself. We recommend a plain blind, free of eye-catching motifs that could draw the child towards it to play. All our blinds at DotcomBlinds are <strong><a class=\"c-turquoise\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dotcomblinds.com\/blinds-and-child-safety\">child safe<\/a><\/strong>, but it\u2019s not best to encourage that behaviour as you\u2019re never sure how safe everyone else\u2019s blinds are.<\/p>\n<p>Fabric wise, you want a blind that is built to last. Children have a knack for getting dirty, and no doubt some of it will end up on your blinds (not to mention the sofa, carpet, wallpaper, cat and so on\u2026) so go for an easy to clean fabric, preferably a PVC based material. It is tough, easy to wipe down and many are <strong><a class=\"c-turquoise\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dotcomblinds.com\/blinds\/roller-blinds\/shopfeature\/anti_bacterial?order=name_asc&amp;dir=asc\">anti-bacterial<\/a><\/strong>, which means it kills off colds and bugs that land on it before it has a chance to spread.<\/p>\n<p>A final comment on this: choose <strong><a title=\"blackout fabrics\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dotcomblinds.com\/blinds\/blackout-blinds\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">blackout<\/a><\/strong> fabric. Now, if you go for the aforementioned PVC based fabric you\u2019ll probably find it is blackout anyway, but if you\u2019re trying to get children to fall asleep early on a summer\u2019s evening, casting the room into darkness is no bad idea.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"blackout blinds\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dotcomblinds.com\/blinds\/blackout-blinds\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"Blackout blinds to suit any nursery\" src=\"https:\/\/www.dotcomblinds.com\/pub\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/05\/Product_Images_Blackout_Kids1.png\" alt=\"Blackout blinds to suit any nursery\" width=\"850\" height=\"283\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h2><b>Safe Nursery Blinds<\/b><\/h2>\n<p>Safety is paramount when it comes to children and blinds. All of our blinds are child safe as standard, coming with a variety of features that must be fitted at the time of installation to make the blind safe. However, we also offer a <strong><a class=\"c-turquoise\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dotcomblinds.com\/blog\/how-to-make-blinds-safe\/\">Child Safe Plus feature<\/a><\/strong> that means the blind has nothing for a child to get entangled or caught up in. You can read more about the individual parts of a blind that plays its part in child safety <strong><a title=\"child safe blinds\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dotcomblinds.com\/blinds\/blackout-blinds\/shopfeature\/child_safe_plus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">here<\/a><\/strong>, but here\u2019s a quick crash course in Child Safe Plus:<\/p>\n<p>If a child should get caught in the chain of a roller blind, the chain should breakaway, as is necessary to make it child safe. However, Child Safe Plus blinds have no chain at all. For as little as \u00a315 you can upgrade to a Child Safe Plus mechanism. This means the blind uses crank mechanisms, springs or remote-control motors as a means to raise and lower the blind. That\u2019s down to a lot of cardboard and plastic rubbing against each other; poor quality components making a cheap and easy blind but also a cacophony of noise.
