If the chain on your roller blind becomes damaged or needs replacing, you do not necessarily need to replace the whole blind.<\/p>\n

The chain sits within the control mechanism at one end of the roller tube. To replace it, the blind first needs to be removed carefully from its brackets so the mechanism can be taken out of the barrel and opened.<\/p>\n

The process itself is relatively straightforward: release the mechanism cover, position the new chain correctly in the grooves, close the mechanism securely and then refit the blind.<\/p>\n

In this guide, we explain each step clearly so you can replace a roller blind chain safely and get the blind operating normally again.<\/p>\n

Before You Start<\/h2>\n

Before replacing the chain, carefully remove the roller blind from its fixing brackets so you can access the control mechanism at the end of the roller tube.<\/p>\n

Hold the roller barrel firmly and pull the white plastic mechanism out from the end. The mechanism is designed to fit snugly, so you may need to give it a gentle wiggle as you pull.<\/p>\n

Avoid forcing or twisting the mechanism excessively. Once it has been removed from the barrel, you can access the chain assembly and begin the replacement process.<\/p>\n

Step 1: Pinch the End of the Pin Together<\/h2>\n

With the chain mechanism removed from the roller barrel, locate the small orange pin at the end of the mechanism.<\/p>\n

Gently pinch the two sides of the pin together. This releases the part that holds the chain mechanism cover in place and prepares it for the next step.<\/p>\n

Use steady pressure rather than forcing it, as the component is designed to clip together securely.<\/p>\n

Step 2: Push the Pin Forward<\/h2>\n

Once the end of the orange pin has been pinched together, gently push the pin forward through the mechanism.<\/p>\n

This loosens the chain mechanism cover and allows you to access the section where the chain sits.<\/p>\n

Work carefully and avoid forcing the cover. Once it has released, you should be able to move on to fitting the replacement chain into the mechanism.<\/p>\n

Step 3: Fit the New Chain Into the Grooves<\/h2>\n

With the mechanism cover open, place the replacement chain around the internal wheel so that it sits correctly within the grooves.<\/p>\n
