A Thermal Venetian Blind is a metal horizontal slat blind that is available in a variety of colours. The 25mm slats can provide insulation when fully titled in the closed position, and when they are opened, they can create space for air to flow. Venetian blinds are particularly useful for windows prone to condensation, the slats can be rotated into the open position to allow air flow to the glass, which will help to dry the condensation, and then titled to the close position to provide insulation.
What are the benefits of Thermal Venetian Blinds
Thermal blinds are a great way to insulate your windows and to stop the cold from entering your room. They create a barrier between the glass and the room, keeping the warmth on the inside and the cold out. This means not only do you enjoy a warmer room in the winter and a cooler one in the summer, you save energy and even reduce your heating bill!
Not only do they insulate your windows, they look stylish at the same time, and we offer a large variety of blinds to choose from.
How do Thermal Venetian Blinds work?
A thermal blind requires no additional work from you to function, it is simply the nature of the blind. In essence, having anything in your window will improve the insulation of your room simply because it creates a barrier, however our thermal venetian blinds are often made from aluminium slats that ensures the amount of air moving from the room to the glass and vice-versa is kept to a minimum. By breaking up this convection current, the warmth stays in the room and the cold stays close to the glass.
Do Thermal Venetian Blinds work in the Summer?
All blinds are ideal for the summer as they create shade. In the hottest months a thermal venetian blind will work in reverse to what it does in the winter – it will keep the room cool and stop the heat entering the room. Again, this is because it creates a barrier that blocks sunlight. An added benefit of this is that the sun’s damaging UV rays are also blocked from entering, which means your furniture will be protected from fading or damage.
Made to Measure Venetian Blinds
Choosing your horizontal venetian blinds is just one element of bringing your home to life and it is important to ensure you measure correctly for custom made metal venetian blinds as this will ensure you are happy with your look. To measure venetian blinds to fit a standard window simply measure the height and width of the window recess. When putting these measurements into the dimensions and before blinds are added to your basket, please select the recess option. We will do the rest of the calculations for you! If you want your venetian blind outside of the recess, please measure the appropriate length and add 70mm to the top and bottom and 50mm to the sides of your measurements to account for light leakage on windows. Further advice on measuring blinds for standard, bay and angled bay windows can be found in our measuring and installation guides.
