Stanhoe Ivory Day & Night Blind

Day and Night Blinds are a great single unit that provides dimout and blackout options at the pull of a chain. The two-phase system has strips of alternating fabrics, one is dimout and another is a sheer fabric. These strips can be aligned to create a full sheer blind, a full dimout blind or a mixture of the two.

1 Year Warranty

A blind from DotcomBlinds is made to the highest standards, designed to provide you with years of service and shade.
In fact, we’re so confident and proud of our blinds, we offer a 1 year warranty on our blinds.

Obviously, there are a few exclusions:
✖ Damage caused by poor installation/not following fitting instructions (don’t worry, installation is easy, read this.)
✖ Misuse or Failing to maintain the blind
✖ General wear and tear and fading (these blinds are exposed to very intense UV rays)
✖ Alteration to the blind
✖ Exposure to the elements or fitted in an unsuitable location (these are indoor blinds!)

However, if your blind stops functioning for any reasons other than those listed above, get in touch. Our warranty covers:
Manufacturing defects
Fabric/slat colour fading within a year
Mechanical malfunction
2 year warranty on battery and mains electric motors used in electric roller blinds

So, in summary, avoid grossly mistreating your blind, show it a little TLC every so often and don’t use it in ways it wasn’t intended. If you do all those things and something goes wrong with the blind, you’re golden – we’ve got you covered and we’ll and repair or replace it free of charge.

How To Measure
How To Measure

How to Measure

Now, you can’t mess this one up. It’s what we call ‘easy’ here at DotcomBlinds. But just in case you need some help, follow this quick guide.

First thing's first, identify whether your blind is going inside or outside of a recess.

Inside the recess

A recess fit blind means you supply us with the width and drop of your recess – from top to bottom and wall to wall. We make deductions to account for the brackets to ensure your blind fits within the recess perfectly.

To measure a roller blind to fit inside the recess of your standard window, simply measure the full width and the height of the recess. Then input those measurements into the product page with your order selecting the ‘recess’ option. We’ll do the rest, leaving you the well-deserved excuse to put your feet up, you worked hard for it after all!

Don’t be tempted to deduct any measurements, we do this for you. Make sure you use a metal tape measure; a cloth one can stretch and give you more millimetres per centimetre than a pound-shop ruler. Also, take your measurements in three places and give us the smallest (if there is a smallest). You will find that some recesses shift and settle over time.

Outside the recess

A blind going outside of a recess is usually called an exact fit blind. An exact fit blind means we won’t make any deductions to the width or drop measurements. Exact fit is the bracket to bracket measurement and is commonly found installed outside of a recess. The size you give us is the size your blind is made to.

If you want your blind to hang outside the recess, measure the height and width but be sure to add some overlap to reduce light leakage. This overlap should be about 70mm at the top and bottom and 50mm each side, ensuring you suffer no dazzling strips of sunlight once your blind is happily installed. Please select the ‘exact’ size option when ordering.

How To Install
How To Install

How to Install

Lovely jubbly – your Day & Night blind has arrived and now all that’s left is to install it!
It’s really straight forward and it will be up in your window in no time, just follow these easy steps!

Step 1 - Headbox Option

Our brackets can either be fitted top fix (to the top of the recess or to the ceiling), or face fix (on to a wall), so decide on which way these brackets will be fitted before you start drilling holes.
The first two brackets need to be fitted as close to the ends of the blind as possible, just make sure they don’t get in the way of the mechanism. If your blind is particularly large you will have additional brackets which should be placed evenly along the width of the blind to support the weight.
Mark with a pencil where the brackets are to be fixed and then drill the holes.
Once the hole has been drilled, insert a wall plug and screw the brackets firmly in place.

Step 2 - Headbox Option

To attach the blind, hook the front ridge of the headrail into the front of the top clip. Push the cassette up until the back ridge slides in and clips into the back of the top clip, snapping the headrail into place.

Step 3 - Headbox Option

Fit the child safety device by putting the chain through the hook, positioning the device in a position that ensures the chain is under tension but not strained (as this will cause damage to the chain). The chain should end 1500mm above the floor to ensure it is out of reach of children. Mark where the hole needs to drilled and then drill the hole, insert the wall plug and screw into place.

Fitting for vertical blind

Step 1 - Standard (without Headbox)

The bracket needs to be fitted to the top of the recess (this version of the blind can only be top fixed). Drill a single hole, insert the wall plug and screw the bracket into place, making sure the protruding tab of the bracket is closest the window. Repeat this for the other bracket.

Brackets must sit on each side of the rail, about 50mm away from the end. Make sure that any remaining brackets are evenly distributed along the rail. Position the front edge of the bracket at least 70mm away from the window. You should also take into consideration any fixings on your windows such as handles that might obstruct the blind as it’s raised and lowered.

Step 2 - Standard (without Headbox)

To attach the blind, hook the front ridge of the headrail into the front of the top clip. Push the cassette up until the back ridge slides in and clips into the back of the top clip, snapping the headrail into place.

If you need to take the blind down from the brackets once it has been installed, push the protruding tab on the bracket upwards which opens the bracket slightly. Next twist the back of the headrail downwards to release the blind.

Step 3 - Standard (without Headbox)

The chain tidy will be attached to the chain when the blind arrives. The chain tidy should be at a maximum distance from the control mechanism, keeping the chain taut (not under excessive tension however as this could negatively affect the longevity and operation of the blind). Put the retaining device on the wall, mark fixing holes with a pencil, drill the holes and screw the device to the wall with suitable fixings.

Day & Night Blind Technical Details

Our Day & Night Blinds consist of a single loop of fabric attached to a barrel at the top of the blind. The fabric has strips running horizontally, and when the metal chain is pulled the alignment of these strips will change. Keep pulling the chain to roll the blind up entirely.

If you select a recess fit Day & Night Blind we will make a 12mm deduction to the width and the drop measurements, to account for the recess size and the windowsill. The fabric itself will be 35mm less than the overall bracket-to-bracket size of the blind.

Headbox Options
Headbox Options

Day & Night blinds comes with a choice of either coming with a headbox or without.

Non-Headbox

A non-headbox Day & Night blind means the fabric can be seen wrapped around the barrel, and the brackets are visible. Blinds without a headbox can only be top fixed and can't be face fixed.

Headbox

The headbox fully encloses the barrel and control mechanism and is covered in the same fabric as the blind, as is the bottom bar. This creates a neat and tidy finish for the blind and protects the fabric from dust and damage. A headbox allows for the blind to made to increased drop sizes compared to the non-headbox option, due to the larger barrel that is used. The headbox will be made from silver-coloured metal with a fabric that matches the blind attached to the front. If you find your drop is too large for a non-headbox Day & Night blind, you may find it is possible with a headbox version.
A Day & Night blind with headbox comes with universal brackets and can be top and face fixed.

Child Safety

Ensuring our products are child safe is a priority for all of us at DotcomBlinds. As a result, our blinds are child safe by design, with built-in safety mechanisms to help reduce the risk of an accident. These mechanisms specific to vertical blinds are:
• All chains provided with our products are made at a maximum length of one metre
• Chain tensioners (or p-clips as they're also known) and cord tidies are supplied with every chain and cord operated blind

We offer a Child Safe Plus feature with our vertical blinds, which is an upgrade to remove the chain mechanism and replace it with a cordless means of operating the blind.
The wand operated function of the blind allows the louvres to be drawn across the window led by the wand and adjusted into place by twisting the wand. If child safety is a particular issue the chain that links the bottom of the louvres together can be removed easily too by simply unclipping them.

If you have any questions around child safety and our blinds, please do not hesitate to get in touch, we're always happy to help.

This blind features a dimout fabric, which will provide shade to a room without completely blocking out exterior light; helping to create a bright but shaded space. Dimout fabrics are ideal for living spaces in your home, filtering exterior light to provide shade and reduce glare while keeping the space bright during the day.

This blind features a thick thermal fabric, which will help provide additional insulation to your home’s windows, making your home more thermally efficient. In winter, these blinds will keep your home warmer by minimising heat loss through your windows, and in summer, they will keep your home cooler by minimising the amount of outside heat that enters your interiors.
