Installing a Smart Battery Roller Blind

Fit the brackets

For our range of Smart Roller Blinds, you'll find that the brackets are the same for both sides. The brackets are designed to be fitted as either Face Fix or Top Fix. We do not recommend side fitting as an option. Place your first bracket into position, ensuring your blind won't get in the way of any handles or vents. Measure the distance from the window to the bracket and mark the spot you need to drill and repeat this on the other side, ensuring the brackets are level (a spirit level can help gauge this). Drill the hole, starting with a smaller pilot hole and then going to the wider 5mm drill bit. You should use a thin wood drill bit if attaching it to the window frame. If you are fitting the blind to the wall, use a masonry drill bit with suitable wall plugs (make sure the drill bit and the wall plugs are the same size). If in doubt, always seek advice from a professional.

Important Note: Ensure there is space at the pin-end bracket (the end opposite the motor) to allow for free movement of the barrel.

Add the bracket covers

Once the brackets are up you can add the bracket covers to hide the screws. These will give your blind a professional and clean finishing touch The bracket covers clip into the lower part of the bracket. They are designed to have a nice tight fit, if you ever need to remove them insert a flat screwdriver into the cutout at the bottom inside of the cover and twist, this will release the cover. The secondary bracket covers are only to be used when installing outside of a recess and should not be used until the blind is fully installed (as it will prevent installation of the blind)

Mount the blind & pair the motor

Now it is time to fit the blind! On both ends of the blind you will see a white plastic bracket as shown above. The plastic bracket needs to be aligned so the side labelled “metal” slides into the fixed brackets. The motor end is fixed whereas the pin end bracket rotates round so take care to ensure you align it correctly (Metal onto Metal Bracket!). Some people find aligning the rotating pin end first easier and presenting to the bracket partially before presenting the motor end. But this is just a suggestion! Once the brackets are aligned gently push the blind back onto the brackets and they will click into place. That’s it, blind installed you superstar!

All that’s left to do now is to pair your Smart Roller Blind to your phone or remote (if purchased). Depending on whether your blind was purchased with a MotionBlinds motor or a Eve MotionBlinds motor you will need to download the appropriate app from your phone app store. For details on how to pair please refer to instruction booklet supplied with your blind. (In essence though you’ll press the program button on your blind which will shunt back and forth to indicate it’s ready to be paired and then you’ll pair it through an app on your phone).
