Product Description
Product Description

The Prestige Grass Honeycomb Blackout Conservatory Blind boasts a quick and easy installation coupled with stylish good looks whilst maintaining a robust and well-supported shading system. The blackout fabric provides fantastic shading opportunities as well as increased thermal and solar reflective benefits thanks to the honeycomb fabric. Each honeycomb creates an individual pocket of air which helps with insulation. This blackout honeycomb fabric allows light to pass through but it is diffused, much like a lampshade, meaning piercing beams of light are blocked and you can enjoy a warming glow instead.

The Prestige hardware is available in either White, Black or Anthracite. The adhesive strips that run vertically down the sides of the glass are colour matched to the hardware, ensuring a seamless and clean looking finish. The headrail and bottom bar are held in place using the unique clic-fit fixing method, which requires no screws or drills. Simply slide the end tabs into place and click the headrail and bottom bar in to secure, ensuring a perfect fit every time.
Please read the "Geeky Stuff" section below for more information on the product dimensions and other technical specifications.

Prestige Conservatory Blinds Technical Details

The Prestige Conservatory Blinds consist of a headrail, a bottom bar and a bar attached to the fabric that is used to pull the fabric up and down. Running vertically down each side of the windowpane, next to the gaskets, are 2 self-adhesive strips that colour match the hardware. No screws are required, the blind is held in place by metal brackets that slide under the rubber gasket that runs around the windowpane. These blinds require a gasket depth of 17mm (from frame to glass).

The fabric is fixed to the headrail, meaning this blind is operated from a top-down only method. The fabric can be left at any point down the window thanks to the cords that run from top to bottom. The hardware comes white as standard but you are able to choose anthracite painted metal.

To hold the headrail in place at the top of the window, a self-adhesive strip is fitted to the glass vertically down the window. This strip is 15mm wide and 1mm thick and it is colour matched to the hardware in either white or anthracite.

The headrail and bottom bars measure 19.5mm deep and 15mm high and measure 32mm from glass to the front of the folded operating handle on the bar.

We allow a +/- 1-2mm tolerance on our window blind deductions when cutting.

Our honeycomb and pleated fabrics have an uncoloured reverse, meaning the back of the fabric (the side that faces out of the window) is white.

If you wish to know how much space the headrail and fabric will take up at the top of the window, you’ll first need to know the drop measurement. For every metre on the drop measurement, add 10mm. Take this and add it to 30mmm (the combined height of the top bar and pull down bar) and you’ll have a rough estimate for the size that will be covered when the blind is fully drawn up.

How to Measure
How to Measure

How to Measure

Conservatories and bifold doors let in lots of light. This means it won’t be long before you start to feel as though you’re living in a greenhouse (or goldfish bowl). Here is a very simple and effective way to shade your windows from sunlight and curious eyes - the bracket-less way!

When you look at the window, you’ll see a rubber seal that runs all the way around the glass. This is called a gasket. Take a credit card and push the card’s corner into the gasket to check that you are able to get the blind’s tab under it. For these blinds to work correctly you need a rubber gasket and not a foam gasket. Some gaskets are stuck down and if this is the case, your window isn’t suitable for pleated blinds.

When you look at the window, you’ll see a rubber seal that runs all the way around the glass. You will need to measure the visible glass: the width from the inside part of the window where the gasket ends on one side to where the gasket ends on the other – so just measure the visible glass area.

Our pleated blinds are held up by their own tension and therefore require relatively strong and rigid rubber gaskets to hold them in place. If your gaskets are quite soft and pliable (or if it’s a bit squishy), then there is a chance the pleated blind won’t be properly supported and can drop. If this is the case for your gasket or you’re not sure, get in touch with our helpful team who can discuss the options available.

Now repeat the method on the length of the window, again measuring the visible glass up to the rubber gasket. Enter in your measurements above in the Width and Drop boxes. Sounds too easy to be true? Watch our video below and you'll see they really are easy-peasy window squeegee!

Selecting the Control Type
Selecting the Control Type

Our Prestige Blinds can be operated as either Single or Dual Control.

Single Control makes operating the blind super easy! You use one handle to effortlessly raise the fabric at the top and lower it down the glass. It's like magic! Single control has always been the traditional control method and is the perfect option if you’re somewhat of a traditionalist and require to control your blind top-down.

Now, let's talk about Dual Control, which takes things to a new level of awesomeness! With dual control, you have not one but two handles to play with. One handle lets you move the bottom of the fabric up and down the glass, while the second handle allows you to move the top of the fabric. It's like having a cool dance partner for your blind! Dual control is a game-changer when it comes to adjusting your blinds. It gives you the ultimate power to customize your privacy and shading preferences. So whether you want to let the sunshine in or create a cosy, shaded atmosphere, dual control has got you covered.

Ultimately, the best way to choose the right type of control is to consider your needs and preferences.

Care Instructions

Wipe clean with a damp cloth but do not rub the fabric vigorously or use chemicals. Never iron the fabric. Please ensure any window cleaning chemicals do not come into contact with the fabric and that the window has sufficient ventilation to present condensation spots. As such we do not take responsibility for any fabric damages caused by cleaning materials, excessive moisture or insect excrements.
How to Install
How to Install

Step 1 - Fit the brackets.

Fitting the Prestige Conservatory Blinds couldn’t be easier. Place the bracket end tabs flat against the glass, push it towards the window frame, and do this for each corner. Push the bracket as far as possible into the rubber gasket.

Step 2 - Apply Side Profiles.

Take the self-adhesive strip and arrange the strip so that the cutouts go either side of the brackets. Ensure it is presented to the glass and tight up against the gasket. If this is not tight up against the gasket, it won’t impede the operation of the blind, but you may see the light bleeding around the edge of the window.

Please note This strip should be fixed to the glass only once, and it is not designed to be removed and refitted multiple times. Therefore we recommend presenting the adhesive strip to the lugs prior to taking the backing tapes off. We will not be able to send you a new side strip if you damage the strip or glue, so please take your time fitting these side strips.

Step 3 - Install the Blind.

Push the headrail into place, ensuring it is securely attached to the brackets. Repeat this for the bottom bar. The spring under the bottom bar needs to be in the centre. The cords are intentionally long and should be tucked under the bottom bar. Do not cut them, they can help with tension adjustment if required.

How to operate the blind

Attach the plastic wand by hooking the wand onto the tilt mechanism on the venetian blind. Twist the wand to open and close the slats.

Troubleshooting

Our Prestige Conservatory blinds function through tension in the cords, and this tension is what holds the fabric in place up and down the window. All blinds come pre-tensioned and you shouldn’t need to adjust it, but if you find that the fabric isn’t holding its place and is dropping, you will need to adjust the tension.
To do this, Use a pen to mark the cord being held by the screw. This will give you a visible indication of how much you have adjusted the tension and allow you to reset it if you go too far.
Undo the screw and either increase or decrease the tension by 1 cm. Tighten the screw and check the blind and repeat as necessary.

By selecting the Same Day Priority Dispatch option at checkout, your blind will jump to the front of our production queue, being made and dispatched that same day when ordered before 11am on weekdays (orders after 11 am or on weekends/bank holidays will be prioritised for the next working day). This blind is made in the UK in one of DotcomBlinds’ UK factories. By purchasing a blind made right here in the UK you are helping to support the British manufacturing industry. Blinds made in the UK will typically have shorter lead times due to the fact they won’t need to be shipped internationally.

This blind features a thick thermal fabric, which will help provide additional insulation to your home’s windows, making your home more thermally efficient. In winter, these blinds will keep your home warmer by minimising heat loss through your windows, and in summer, they will keep your home cooler by minimising the amount of outside heat that enters your interiors.

This blind features a blackout fabric, proving the light-blocking benefits you would expect from a blackout blind. This fabric will not allow exterior light to pass through it, helping to create a dark environment in your home, which is ideal for bedrooms and home cinemas. Please be aware a minimal amount of light may still leak into a room around the edges of the blind.

This “No-Drill” blind features our Honeycomb fabric, which will provide excellent levels of shading and an enhanced level of insulation to your windows. The honeycomb shaping of the fabric creates small pockets of air which will improve the insulation around your windows.

This blind features a plain fabric with a solid colour. Plain fabrics are incredibly versatile and can easily be matched to the existing decor in your home or add a fresh new colour to your windows. Be sure to order FREE fabric samples to get a feel for the look and feel of the fabric in person before making a purchase.

This “No-Drill” blind can be made with a Dual Control mechanism, which allows you to move the blind from the top and bottom sides of the blind to shade, allowing you to shade individual sections of your windows (unlike our Single Control option which is only “top-down”).
