Looking at Orla Kiely
Here at DotcomBlinds, we’ve recently updated & expanded the range of Designer Blinds available in our store, you may have heard us shouting about it in our blogs and social media posts over the past few days. Not only have we added Roman Blind options to our existing Designer collections, but we’ve also added 3 new British Designers to our collection!
Today, we’ll have a look at the biggest addition to our Designer collection, award winning designer and “the Queen of Prints” Orla Kiely! We are overjoyed to finally have made to measure blinds with Orla Kiely’s iconic designs in our store – So, to celebrate, we thought we’d shine a light on legendary Irish designer Orla Kiely and her iconic eponymous Orla Kiely brand.
The Story of Orla Kiely
Irish Designer Orla Kiely started off her design journey when she qualified as a Textile Designer at the National College of Art and Design in Dublin. After getting qualified as a textile designer, Orla Kiely jetted off to start her career in New York working as a Wallpaper and Fabric designer. After her stint in NYC Orla moved to England to work for Esprit and study for a masters degree at the Royal College of Art in London.
After gaining her Masters degree, Orla’s storied fashion career began, designing hats and handbags which were purchased by Harrods, M&S and other high end retailers. In 1997 the Orla Kiely brand was born, with Orla’s designs quickly becoming iconic in the design scene within the UK and the world at large. Nowadays Orla is busy running the Orla Kiely brand, with her designs being found plastered across clothing, homeware, cars, buses and now of course Designer Blinds from DotcomBlinds.

In early 2024, DotcomBlinds expanded our ranges of designer window blinds, adding in blinds from even more of the UK’s best and well know designers, of course including a range of blinds featuring designs from the legendary Orla Kiely. In our range of Orla Kiely blinds, we have some of the most iconic and joyous designs to have come from the Orla Kiely archives, including classics like the Linear Stem, Solid Stem and Shadow Flower prints, in a variety of colourways.
