Technical Specifications
Our Blackout cassette blinds are designed first and foremost to provide darkness in a room by creating a sealed unit in or around the window.
To fit this blin,d you will be required to drill multiple holes, not just into the masonry you’re fitting to, but into the headbox and side channels themselves, as they don’t come pre-drilled. The reason for this is that you will need to ensure the entire blind sits squarely within a recess or against the wall, so you will need to decide where to specifically screw the blind to the wall.
The cassette blind is comprised of an aluminium headbox fascia in which the fabric on a barrel is held. Aluminium side channels run from top to bottom and are attached to the headbox. The fabric has fabric retaining pips attached to it, and these pips are what hold the fabric in the side channels.
Important: When the blind is in operation, the window must be shut. Failure to close the window when the fabric is anywhere but fully rolled up can cause the fabric to be pulled out of the side channels. This can damage the fabric or the side channel and the warranty will be voided. Do not operate this blind with an open window. If you install this blind on behalf of someone else, please inform them.
At the bottom of the fabric is the bottom bar that has a pile seal on the bottom of it. This helps to form a barrier against light at the bottom of the window when it sits on the bottom fixing strip.
The side channels measure 55.3mm wide, and if recess fitted, the side channels are 29.5mm deep, and if face fitted, they are 25.2mm deep. Please note that recess-fit side channels cannot be used for face fitting, and vice versa as they are different.
The bottom fixing strip is 25mm tall and 21mm deep and will match the chosen hardware colour. This L-shaped metal strip allows the bottom bar to sit just in front of it, thus creating another barrier between the window and the room.
The hardware is available in white or black and the motor is concealed within the barrel of the blind and has an inbuilt receiver. These motors are charged by a USB C charging point located at the end of the blind.
We expect our cassette blinds to provide darkness in your room for standard use. However, we are not able to guarantee absolute darkness due to differences in installation, location and light direction. Every care and attention has been made to engineer this type of blind to give maximum levels of darkness.

What is a Smart Blind?
The quick and easy explanation is that a smart blind is a motorised window blind which can be opened and closed remotely, without the need for the user to have a cumbersome remote on hand or to manually operate the blind.
However, that is really scratching the surface of why our smart blinds are so “smart”. If you’ll allow us to geek out for a moment, an item is “smart” when it is: active, networked and can be used autonomously – That’s a lot of big words, but boiled down it means that for our blinds to be “smart blinds” they need to: be actively ready to operate at any given time for the user’s convenience; has the capability to network and connect with other smart devices and be operated from anywhere with a Wi-Fi connection allowing for seamless use wherever you are; and having an ability to operate autonomously without human intervention, allowing the blind to provide perfect shade without the user having to even think about the blinds themselves.
Beyond that, we also believe that for our smart blinds to be truly “smart”, they should provide utility for their users providing a level of convenience, comfort, security and energy efficiency.

Note: If your smart speaker or hub isn’t listed above, you may need a Thread Border Router to ensure full compatibility with Matter-enabled Eve MotionBlinds. Apple users are covered by default, but Amazon, Google and Samsung users should check their hub model supports Thread.
Do I need a hub for each blind? Not at all! You only need one compatible hub in your home to connect all your Eve MotionBlinds to your smart system — not one per blind. This hub acts as a bridge between your smart blinds and your Alexa, Google Home, or SmartThings setup. If you already own a Thread and Matter-enabled device like the Amazon Echo (4th Gen), Google Nest Hub (2nd Gen), or Apple HomePod Mini, you’re good to go. If not, affordable options like the Aqara Hub M100, Tado Bridge X, or the Tuya Matter Smart Gateway Pro can do the job nicely. Just one of these in your home will support multiple blinds (and other smart devices too!).

Moisture Resistant
This blind features a moisture-resistant fabric, ideal for bathrooms and kitchens where there may be a lot of moisture present. Our Moisture-resistant material is capable of with standing low levels of humidity and dampness, but not full saturation. This is because it will not absorb and retain any water under normal circumstances, which is key to preventing the build-up of bacteria or mould in these warm, damp spaces.
Wipe Clean
This blind features a “Wipe Clean” fabric, which is super easy to clean and perfect for busy households; simply wipe over with a dry cloth to remove dust and any debris or use a damp cloth to remove stains. Ideal for homes with kids or areas close to food preparation (including use around the kitchen sink).
Fire Retardant
This blind features a fire-retardant fabric, providing peace of mind and safety to your home. Our fire retardant fabric is a high-quality material that will not catch fire when presented with a flame; instead, the area that is in contact with the flame will burn but it will self-extinguish once the source of heat has been removed.
Thermal
This blind features a thick thermal fabric, which will help provide additional insulation to your home’s windows, making your home more thermally efficient. In winter, these blinds will keep your home warmer by minimising heat loss through your windows, and in summer, they will keep your home cooler by minimising the amount of outside heat that enters your interiors.
Remote Control
This blind uses a remote control operation, the blind can be opened and closed by using the up and down buttons on the remote control or wall switch (both sold separately). Remote control operation is ideal for hard-to-reach windows and large windows.
Smart Home Control
This blind uses smart home control to operate the blind. When using a MotionBlinds motor, the blind can be operated via pull cord, smartphone app or smart home connectivity when using a WiFi bridge (sold separately). When using the Eve MotionBlinds motor the blind can be operated via pull cord, smartphone app, smart home connectivity or automation.
Battery Powered
This blind can be battery-powered, meaning that the motor is powered by a battery attached to the motor. Depending on use, you should get 6-12 months of charge out of your battery, and we supply a power cable for recharging the blind.

This blind is available to be made in our XL sizes.
