What smart motor is smarter?

If you’ve been paying attention to all the fanfare around here the past week or so, you’ll know that we have launched our long awaited range of Smart Blinds. You may have also picked up on the fact we have two motor options available to you: our MotionBlinds motor and our Eve MotionBlinds motor!

If you’re not a massive smart home nerd like we are, you may be wondering what the difference is between these two smart motors – Well luckily for you, we saw this coming a mile away so we’ve prepared a handy blog to look at the differences between our two smart motors!

So, let’s take a bit of a deep dive into these two motors and find out what makes them different,

Standard MotionBlinds motor

First off, let’s look at the standard MotionBlinds motor! This motor is the more “basic” option of the two, but it is still a nifty piece of cutting-edge tech, which uses Thread mesh networking to communicate with other smart devices!

The standard MotionBlinds motor is pretty handy and can be controlled with a Bluetooth Smart Phone app that takes seconds to set up. This app is the main way people use MotionBlinds motors, as you can control your blinds using your Smart Phone, which is pretty simple!

The MotionBlinds motor can also be controlled with your Smart Home Automation Kit, so long as you use a bridging device (sold separately) to connect your smart blinds to the other smart tech in your home.

And if you’re in a pinch and your Smart Phone is out of battery, you can control your blinds with a MotionBlinds motor, with a handy pull cord on the side of the motor – Just one gentle tug is all it takes to open and close your blinds.

Eve MotionBlinds motor

Now the Eve MotionBlinds motor, is the all-singing all-dancing supercharged version and it uses the Matter connection standard (backed by tech giants like Apple, Google & Amazon) to seamlessly communicate with the other smart home devices in your home.

For using the Smart Blinds, off the bat the Eve MotionBlinds motor can do EVERYTHING the standard MotionBlinds motor can do, with a few more added control options.

As well as all the control options you have on a normal MotionBlinds motor, our Eve MotionBlinds motor is also compatible with all Apple smart home devices out of the gates and can connect to many other smart home systems when you use a bridging unit (sold separately).
